At the Cabinet's weekly meeting Thursday, Premier Cho Jung-tai received a Ministry of Education (MOE) briefing on a 2026-2029 AI talent program aimed at building a new AI-powered smart education ecosystem for students across grades 1-12. The premier said that the MOE's 2022-2025 Digital Learning Enhancement Plan for students in grades 1-12 has laid a solid foundation for digital education in Taiwan.
With the Digital Learning Enhancement Plan establishing the groundwork, the AI talent program is designed to advance the application of AI in education, the premier said. Centering on three key areas—building AI learning environments, cultivating cross-disciplinary AI educators and strengthening data-driven decision-making—the program is designed to enhance primary and secondary school teachers' professional knowledge and skills in applying AI to teaching, improve student learning outcomes, reinforce AI literacy and foster responsible AI use among students.
Premier Cho directed the MOE to implement the program as planned and, in alignment with the Artificial Intelligence Basic Act, review AI application scenarios and their potential risks in order to create a robust digital education environment.
