According to the statistics, 1,220 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total amount of US$2,967,546,000 were approved from January to April 2020. This indicates a increase of 8.93% in the number of cases, and a increase of 48.68% in FDI amount compared to the same period of 2019.
With regard to inward investment from Mainland China, 41 cases were approved with an amount of US$41,839,000 from January to April 2020. This indicates a decrease of 4.65% in the number of cases, and a increase of 61.65% in the FDI amount compared to the same period of 2019. From July 2009 to April 2020, 1,412 cases were approved with a total investment amount added up to US$2,326,810,000.
In terms of Taiwan’s outbound investment (excluding Mainland China), 184 projects were registered from January to April 2020 with a total amount of US$2,893,099,000, indicating an decrease of 8.91% in the number of cases, but a increase of 24.29% in the amount, as compared to the same period of 2019.
As for Taiwan’s outward investment to Mainland China, 175 applications have been approved from January to April 2020, indicating a decrease of 9.33% compared to the same period of 2019. The approved investment amount is US$2,380,841,000, 63.31% more than the same period in 2019.
